emrextreme
I don't understand the use of auto save. They are not like check points or something. Are they for decreasing the time of saving when you're quitting? NikMik
If your power goes out and you have a desktop, you don't lose all of your progress in that session? If some code buggers up and causes a crash you don't lose all of your progress in that session? If you're a noob and alt-f4 when you die, you can successfully be a noob who ruins the point of the game Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/36702-whats-the-purpose-of-auto-saving/#findComment-485861 Share on other sites
Nearo
Well if nothing else, consider the aid they'd offer if you crashed? Not sure if there's anything beyond that, but not losing hours if you crash sounds helpful.*edit* beat to it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/36702-whats-the-purpose-of-auto-saving/#findComment-485862 Share on other sites
Snob
Auto saves slow the game down, and it gives you just enough time to get a breather. You know how intense the game can be. Amkar
It's also (partially) so you can't close the game (without using the menu, which will save it) if you mess up so you can't reload. LadyAzure
Autosaving is like taking a snapshot of everything all at once, exactly how everything was at that moment. Incase something happens like previously stated. Vanderer
Just think of it as a little reassuring mechanic to make sure that if everything goes to utter hell, you still have that hell to deal with, even if your computer crashes and only sets game time back by a day.
